Karl Denninger
Karl Denninger is an American technology businessman, finance blogger, and political activist, and is sometimes described as a founding member of the Tea Party movement.
He founded and served as CEO of MCSNet in Chicago, originally established as Macro Computer Solutions in 1987. In 1993, the company expanded into commercial internet services, becoming one of Chicago’s early ISPs. Its customers included the Chicago Public Library, for which MCSNet provided internet access and web hosting. In 1997, Denninger led a coalition of ISPs that established the Enhanced Domain Name System, an alternative DNS root that allowed registrants to create their own generic top-level domains.
Denninger ran MCSNet until 1998, when he sold the company to Winstar Communications. The Chicago Sun-Times later recognized him as one of the “movers and shakers” who helped bring Chicago into the Internet Age. After the sale, he moved to Florida and devoted more time to stock trading and political activism.
