IX. The Seventy Sevens- Daniel 9:1-27

A. The Background — 9:1-2

1. Daniel received this vision in 539/538 B.C., the first year of Darius

2. Daniel was studying the books for the completion of desolation

B. Daniel’s Prayer — 9:3-19

1. The Confession of Sin — 9:3-14

a. Acknowledgment of National Sin and Guilt — 9:3-10

b. The Punishment for Sin and Guilt — 9:11-14

1. Their disobedience was the reason for the curse (v11

2. The words of the prophets also were fulfilled (v12)

3. The judgment proved the Law of Moses to be true 13

4. The Lord is righteous and kept the calamity in store

2. The Plea for Mercy — 9:15-19

a. He remembered how God dealt with Israel in the Exodus

b. Let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away (v16a)

C. The Arrival of Gabriel — 9:20-23
