Weekly Reading for October 4 - 10: New Moon in Libra
Episode notes
Venus stationed retrograde on Saturday, so we're now one full week into the stretch of the year where everything we want, everything we value, and everyone we're attached to gets dragged into a windowless conference room for a performance review. Venus retrograde never stops at asking what you want. It asks why you want it, and then it sits there with its arms crossed, unimpressed by "because I've always wanted it" or "because that's what a person like me is supposed to want." It wants the answer underneath that one, and probably the one under that.
The reason this one hit so hard right out of the gate is where it stationed: right in the middle of a T-square. Mars in Leo is opposing Pluto in Aquarius, and Venus and Mercury are both sitting in Scorpio squaring the two of them. Translated into plain English, how we act, how we think and talk, and what we love are all being held in a chokehold by the planet of power, fear, control, and the stuff we buried in the backyard years ago and planted hostas over. And every one of these planets is in a fixed sign, which is basically the astrological equivalent of saying "this is just how I am" with your whole chest. This is how I do things (Leo), this is how I think about things (Aquarius), this is how I feel about things (Scorpio), and none of it is up for negotiation, thank you.
