Legends and Lattes - Travis Baldree

I finally break down and read Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. At the end of the day, this book wasn't for me. I have got to stop reading cozy fantasy, there are only a few that actually do it for me. But I want to like the genre so badly. Despite my issues with the book, I still rated this 4 stars, because even though a book might not be for me, doesn't mean I can't see the vision.

Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy

In this episode I review Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy. I highly recommend reading thing book by the audio book, Ciaran Saward has such a lovely way of narrating this story that makes it feel magical, and the way his accents subtly change between characters really help bring this to life. I tried out this story on a whim, and am happy to report that it was a 4.5 star rating for me. This is the first book in the uncompleted The Wildersongs Trilogy.

Murderland - Caroline Fraser

I journey back to non-fiction this week with Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers by Caroline Fraser. This one was an interesting topics with some interesting points, but ultimately missed the mark for me when it comes to non-fiction books. Apologies for the background noise, there were a pair of overalls in my dryer and I did not expect my microphone across the house to pick up the clang every time the metal hit. No apologies for the dog noises, I have two of them. They are needy and I have found it is easier to let them lay at my feet than to lock them out of the room. They're even louder in the hall. Even though this podcast is supposed to be Solo, let's just call them my co-hosts.

Relic - Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child

Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child is the first book in the Pendergast series. It's very much a novel for fans of Jurassic Park with the same kind of Thriller/Horror/Sci-Fi theme going on. This book kicks off what I hope to be a really fun series that I enjoy as much as I enjoyed this book.

Winter's Orbit - Everina Maxwell

In this Episode of Solo Shelfie I review the 2 time 5 star review Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell. A marvelous debut novel written in 2021, this space opera is a book that I keep coming back to. Featuring my dogs making noise in the background, because no matter how much I begged, pleaded, and bribed, they needed to be right under foot the entire time I was recording.

Not Quite Dead Yet - Holly Jackson

In this episode I review Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson. A unique take on the who done it mystery genre. A victim solves their own murder before they die. This book had twits and turns that I did not expect, and an ending that changed my rating from 3.5 stars to 5 stars.

Only One for the Orc - Isabelle Taylor

Happy release day to Only One for the Orc by Isabelle Taylor! We journey back to Claw Haven for Nick and Vi's story, about fated mates, finding your place in the community, and learning to say no. Only One for the Orc is the second full length novel of interconnected standalones in the Claw Haven series. I had so much fun reading this book and was so excited to come back to Claw Haven.

Accidentally Wedded to a Werewolf - Isabelle Taylor

Episode 2 of Solo Shelfie I review Accidentally Wedded to a Werewolf where I found a style of Romantsy books that worked for me, and fell in love with a tiny little remote town with odd residents. I rated this book 3.75 stars out of 5, and absolutely could not put it down.

The Radium Girls - Kate Moore

In the first ever episode of Solo Shelfie I review The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. A gripping non-fiction book that I could not put down. The Radium Girls follows some of Americas history that time forgot. These women fought corporations for their health.
