Episode notes

Conflict is inevitable—but how a team handles it is a choice.

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor explains how athletes, coaches, and parents can approach disagreement with maturity, respect, and a commitment to finding solutions. Learn why conflict happens, how to recognize the difference between healthy and unhealthy conflict, and how the three C’s—Calm, Clear, and Curious—can turn difficult conversations into opportunities for growth.

Athletes will learn how to speak honestly without attacking others, listen to understand, receive feedback without becoming defensive, and move forward without holding grudges. Coaches will discover how to address issues early, model respectful disagreement, and create an environment where honest communication strengthens team standards. Parents will learn how to help athletes work through conflict, communicate respectfully, and develop greater confidence and character.

The goal is not to win an argument. The goal is to protect the relationship, solve the problem, and make the team stronger.

Speak up. Listen well. Hold standards. Respect always. Resolve, learn, grow—and win together.
