The last light of the evening is fading over the ocean.
The beach is empty now. The footprints in the sand are slowly disappearing, the wind has become softer, and at the end of the shore a little cottage is glowing beneath the night sky.
In this episode of SLOWLY – Sleep Stories for Quiet Nights, we leave the road behind and spend the night in a quiet cottage just a few steps from the sea.
We’ll open the windows to the sound of distant waves, make something warm to drink, sit on the porch while the stars appear, and watch the tide slowly erase the marks left on the sand during the day.
Nothing needs to be preserved.
Nothing needs to stay exactly as it was.
The footprints can disappear.
The tide can change.
The day can leave without us needing to hold on to every part of it.
Tonight, there is only a warm cottage, an empty beach, and the steady sound of the ocean beyond the window.
The sea can take care of the shore.
And for a little while, we can let go of the day and allow sleep to take care of us.
