HoM: Doctor Who Podcast - "DOCTOR WHO AND THE DALEKS" Movie Review

"You are different from them and they are afraid of anything different. And what people are afraid of, they try to destroy." " EX-TER-MI-NATE!" The 'Hit or Miss: Doctor Who' series is about to be invaded by those dreaded Daleks! To celebrate the official launch of our first Doctor Who podcast series we're revisiting an old upload originally recorded for our sister podcast, Silver Screen. We're looking at a familiar story with some unfamiliar changes for the big screen: 1965's 'Dr. Who and the Daleks'. Mike, DK and guest Will Templar join the human scientist named Doctor Who, his granddaughters Barbara and Suzy, and hapless comic relief Ian as they board TARDIS and land on the distant planet of Skaro. There will be discussions on Dalekmania, origins, comparisons with the original TV serial, the changes and impact of Amicus' cinematic transfer and personal thoughts on it. As always there will be a critical eye applied, the audience's opinion shared and the movie scored out of five stars. Hopefully you enjoy this little Skarosian appetizer, we'll be back with the start of a hefty main course of new content in just one week! And, oh no, it looks like the Daleks are the masters of Earth... Music by Timeless Journey. • HoM: Star Trek Podcast - STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Review

HoM: Star Trek Podcast - STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Review

    Explicit

Episode 78 - "This stretched my empathy to the max, looking for the good in this." Section 31 Classified Review (A Therapy Session in Disguise). Welcome to the Hit or Miss debriefing, where we dissect 'Star Trek: Section 31'—and, boy, do we have some truth bombs to drop like a Droom doll from an airlock. Join Michael, Nita, Justin, and Mary as we attempt to give this recent Star Trek Paramount+ movie the fair review it deserves. Spoiler alert: we try, but honesty is our mission, for better or worse. We’ll go over the basic plot for those brave or wise enough to still be avoiding it: the story follows the Mirror Universe's Empress Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role from 'Star Trek: Discovery'), who gets entangled in a dangerous mission in the Prime Universe that takes her on a wild ride of espionage, betrayal, questionable plot devices, o.t.t. performances and inexplicable accents! But what’s supposed to be a thrilling addition to the Star Trek universe quickly becomes a parade of missed opportunities, head-scratching decisions, and a plot that left us more confused than entertained. Though we try to be respectful (really, we do), this movie took us to the brink of madness, and we’re not holding back. Expect plenty of rants, raging, and witty references as we break down what went wrong, what could’ve been, and how Section 31 completely missed the mark on delivering a proper Star Trek experience. Grab your stress ball, but be prepared for a whole lot of fun and laughter too. Who knew you could have such a great time reviewing such a bomb!? Jump on the (incredibly fitting) garbage scow with our ragtag crew, because in the words of a certain Chameloid in this very film "we have trash, alright. Just trash!"
