Payday (Tanya is a ברייתא)

Welcome back to another episode of Tanya is a ברייתא! In this shiur, we take a look into a seeming contradiction in the Alter Rebbe’s understanding of the reward for mitzvos. Along the way to the resolution, we gain an appreciation of how reward functions, why certain mitzvos bypass the normal system, and what makes tzedaka so special.

(The intention of this series is to attempt to bring out the Alter Rebbe’s intention by doing a deep dive into his (oftentimes niglah’dike) sources. Enjoy the shiur!)
