Marshall Ken and Martha Harris make a winter trip to the couple's summer cabin after hearing someone may have broken into it. They nearly die in a blizzard en-route there. While at the cabin, bizarre ghostly apparitions begin to play out a scene from something that happen in the cabin, revealing a horrible secret and destroying Martha's world. If your nerves are steady enough, I'd like to be your guide into and through, we hope, a place and a time where things happen which we ordinarily think of as supernatural, where grisly events do not necessarily have their moment and go their way as time moves ahead but may stay and stay and still stay. The home we enter first is not the sinister place I'm talking about. It's a well -appointed apartment. Bright, cheerful, normal in every way. Occupied by Ken Harris, who at this moment is reading a novel, and his wife Martha, who is working on a needlepoint project. When you come to think of it, there's something rather sad about a summer cottage in midwinter. Its purpose is negated. Its rooms, built to contain the sounds of pleasure, are silent. Its meaning has been stripped from it. It is empty. Or should be. But according to Stu Ralston, the summer cottage owned by Ken and Martha Harris out on Shadow Lake is not empty. And whoever is in it has no business there. Starring: Joan Lovejoy, Robert Maxwell, Joan Loring, Nat Polan, Bob Callaban

Radio Mystery Theater The Witches Almanac Episode 0280

Episode 0280 "The Witches Almanac" Original Airdate: May 26, 1975 Original Story by Ian Martin, Directed by Himan Brown, Host: E.G. Marshall Most of us laugh off the existence of witches, today or ever, particularly today. Yet, even so casual a research source as the daily newspaper would provide us with knowledge that there are covens all over the country and the world, and that witchcraft is on the rise again. Of course, all of them, in their minds, are dedicated to good works as the following tale will illustrate. I have in my hand a curious little book called The Witch's Almanac. I'm looking at a page which contains a recipe for a witch's broth. Rendered eye of newt. Pressed gall of goat. Extract of lizard's liver. Garnish with fur of bat and minced tail of a poisoned rat. Boil in alcohol and lace with the blood of one virgin. Ludicrous or horrifying. The date of the book. is 17th century but witches still live believe it or not and are busy casting spells Starring: Marshall Borden, Dan Ocko, Jada Rowland, Robert Dryden, Virginia Payne

Radio Mystery Theater The Storm Breeder Episode 0369

Episode 0369 "The Storm Breeder" Original Airdate: October 28, 1975 Written by William Austin, Adapted by Ian Martin, Directed by Himan Brown, Host: E.G. Marshall Many of you may not be familiar with the writings of William Austin since his main claim to fame is that he was the forerunner of the famous Nathaniel Hawthorne. But it is as sad in a way as this haunting tale I bring you that he should have been so overshadowed by his famous antecedent for no more poignant and heartbreaking while at the same time terrifying story could be told than this. The American version of the wandering Jew, condemned and outcast, and the small shivering fever-wracked child with the sad brown eyes innocently doomed to share his exile with him forever. For the strange, weird, unforgettable fragment of American history brought to you here, We are indebted, according to William Austin, to one Jonathan Dunwell of New York. Mr. Dunwell was a judge and as such a general officer of the court by profession, but by inclination an antiquarian and a collector of American history. It is his manuscript we bring to life. Radio Mystery Theater Triptych For a Witch Episode 0371

Episode 0371 "Triptych For a Witch" Original Airdate: October 30, 1975 Written by Ian Martin, Directed by Himan Brown, Host: E.G. Marshall A triptych is defined in Webster's unabridged dictionary as a picture or carving in three parts, side by side, especially an altarpiece consisting of a central panel and two flanking panels that fold over it. Thus by definition it represents a sacred figure, and usually three aspects of that figure. This story concerns a triptych that represents a wholly profane and baleful figure in all its different aspects. In many cultures the aged had a function and were treated with reverence and respect. Less and less this is true of the Occidental cultures. I enter no discussion of whether this is right or wrong. Frequently the elderly would prefer to be left alone to pursue their own destinies. And yet when the moment comes and some very ancient relative is left alone, particularly a woman, Some atavistic instinct, or is it just plain guilt, drives many of us to open at least our homes, if not wholly our hearts, to them. This is the story of two such people. But may heaven protect you from the strange and awful experience they unwittingly laid themselves open to. Masquerading as an elderly and widowed distant relative, a witch and her strange pets move in with a young couple who have been recently married. As time goes by however, the husband begins to suspect she is not who she appears to be. Starring: Margaret Hamilton*, Kristopher Tabori, Robert Hammond, Joan Lovejoy *Margaret Hamilton is well known for her role as The Wicked Witch of the West from the 1939 Classic "The Wizard of Oz"

Isn't there at least one skeleton lurking in your closet? At some time and for some reason, it will surely reveal itself. When we are young, family, especially our immediate family, is to us the world in microcosm. And we know that we are part of a self-contained unit in which we are fed, clothed, and protected. When we become adults, however, we can view our parents and relatives more objectively. Uncle Bill never was really that amusing, was he? And why did father always unthinkingly vote the straight ticket? Because he read only the sport pages. And so family unity becomes subject to the strains of objective thinking, as we are about to find out. When his estranged grandmother dies Dr Tom Lodge inherits her entire estate, a small inn and 15 acres of land including a small house where Mrs Meggs lives. However, the estate has to be sold and all the money given to the bank to repay the $75,000 that his father had stolen from it when he worked there as assistant cashier. That was six years ago and neither Tom's father or the money have ever been seen since. Dr Tom Lodge is soon to discover that his long missing father had been murdered.
