You're Invited (Part 9) - Hospitality and Evangelism

Preacher: Revd. Samuel Crane Luke 5:27-32; 24:28-35; Isaiah 58:6-12 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we conclude our You're Invited series by asking what does it look like to live a life of invitation and hospitality? In this final message of the You’re Invited series, we explore three meals that shape the Christian life: eating with the least of these, eating with sinners, and eating with Jesus. As we feast on Christ through his Word and at his table, we are called to open our hearts and homes so that others might encounter Jesus and believe. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. You're Invited (Part 8) - Coming to Faith

Preacher: Revd Samuel Crane Romans 10:1-15; Luke 15:1-10 What is the ultimate joy in the Christian life? While life offers many beautiful moments, few compare to witnessing someone come to faith in Jesus—a moment that causes all of heaven to rejoice. In this episode from Saint James Church, we explore the fifth and final threshold of faith: helping people take that ultimate step to cross the line from seeking Jesus to truly trusting Him. Drawing from Romans 10, this message breaks down the three essential elements needed to guide others on their journey to salvation: A Heart That Cares: Moving past self-righteousness or spiritual superiority to cultivate genuine empathy and anguish for those living without Christ. A Message That Saves: Understanding that salvation doesn't come through our own self-made efforts or good works, but solely through the gift of Jesus' righteousness and His sacrifice on the cross. A Voice That Speaks: Recognising our call to actively share the gospel, because people cannot call on a Saviour they have never heard about. Whether you are praying for a spouse, a child, a co-worker, or a neighbour, this episode will equip and inspire you to step out in faith, pray boldly, and share the good news so that more lives are transformed for eternity. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. You're Invited (Part 7) - Ordinary guides towards Truth

Preacher: Joshua Lattimore (trainee) Mark 10:17-31; John 16:7-15 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore the fourth step on the faith journey: the moment people start to seek Jesus. Looking at Jesus' encounter with the rich young ruler, we see what it means to be guides to truth. As people start to seek Jesus, we are to help by answering their questions, helping them see their deep need, and how Jesus is the only answer. Sometimes as guides, we even need to let people go on a different path. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. Preacher: Revd Samuel Crane John 4:1-26; Rev 22:12-21 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore the third step on the journey to faith: becoming open to the change that Jesus brings. Looking at Jesus' encounters with Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, and the man at the pool, we see how he lovingly challenges people, helps them recognise their deepest need, and shows that he alone can truly satisfy. Discover how God can use us to help friends and family take another step towards trusting Jesus. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. You're Invited (Part 5) - Fostering Curiosity about Jesus

Preacher: Bella Bradbeer (trainee) John 3:1–21, Titus 3:1-11 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore how to foster curiosity about Jesus among those around us. When we humbly live as followers of Jesus, we look different to those around us. As people see this difference, they can often become curious about why. We do not need to have it all together, but through our lives lived authentically under Jesus our King, and through thoughtful questions, we can help people become curious about what really matters - life in Jesus. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. You're Invited (Part 4) - Building Trust with our non-Christian friends

Preacher: Josh Latimore (trainee) Mark 5:21-43 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore the need to build trusting relationships with our non-Christian friends before we share our faith. The beginning of faith in Jesus is often trusting someone who already believes. People are more open to hearing about Jesus when they know they are genuinely loved, not treated as projects. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. Preacher: Revd Samuel Crane Acts 2:42–47, 1 Thessalonians 2:1-8 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore how God forms disciples through shared rhythms of worship and shared life. You're Invited (Part 2) - Ordinary Hospitality is a Christian Calling

Preacher: Revd Samuel Crane Romans 12:9–21; 1 Peter 4:7–1 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore what it looks like to live as the bride of Christ. Hospitality is not a gift for some, but obedience for all. Often, we, the church, are friendly and nice to one another, but true fellowship as siblings goes much deeper in affection and love. The only way we can live out our faith together is to be close in fellowship and intimacy, not standing at arm's length. Drawing from Romans 12 and 1 Peter 4, we're reminded that God's sacrificial love is to shape the life of his church through genuine relationships, generous hospitality, and practical care for one another. Discover how opening our homes and sharing our lives can become a powerful witness to the welcoming love of Jesus. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. This is the opening message of our You're Invited series, where we explore Jesus' parable of the wedding banquet in Matthew 22. Discover the joy of God's generous invitation to eternal life, why everyone is welcome to his table, and the different ways people respond to his call. Above all, we're reminded that we come to God not through our own goodness, but clothed in Christ—and, having received such a welcome, we're sent to invite others to join the feast. 🔗 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH US: Visit our Website: sj.org.au Join us in Person for Worship: Sunday, 10 am, 1461 High Street, Glen Iris. Preacher: Revd Samuel Crane Matthew 13:44–46; Joshua 24:1–15; Luke 12:22–34 Welcome to this week's message from Saint James Glen Iris. In this sermon, we explore the treasure worth everything. The Christian life is not ultimately about money, but about what we treasure most. Jesus' call to "seek first the kingdom of God," this message invites us to see the incomparable value of God's kingdom, surrender our lives to Christ, and discover the joy, peace, and eternal hope that far outweigh anything we leave behind.
