Leaving Canada and Covid behind, we set sail for the tropics.

On the Inside Wanting Out

Should we stay or should we go?

On the Outside Looking in - Re-Entry

Finally back in the land of light and warmth, we make our way further south and attempt to rejoin the general population under the COVID lockdown.

On the Outside Looking in - More Storms

This is the continuing tale of the sailing infidels and how the COVID-19 crisis evolved from what once was pleasant self-imposed isolation to what seemed like virtually inescapable involuntary confinement, while the lockdown itself was threatening to become a lockout for us.

On the Outside Looking In: Exodus

Finally, having had it with management we take matter into our own hands and set sail for the mainland.

On the Outside Looking In - The Storm

We're back! Ironically, after having to skip a release due to, of all things, COVID-19, I finally feel good enough to finish the new episode. Thanks for your patience. In this episode, we deal with the biggest winter storm in our entire tenure and are faced with a decision. Do we make a daring winter sail to the mainland or do we tough it out? If we run out of fuel, how long would we be stuck there?

On the Outside Looking In - Taking the Care out of Caretaker

In this episode, we get back to the lodge to find the generator has been running non-stop for a week with no one there and are then told that we will not be receiving fuel to see us through the winter. We build a dinghy, rent our boat to our bosses, and suffer the worst winter conditions in five years.

On the Outside Looking In - Ready or Not, Here We Come

Welcome to Episode III of Sailing Infidels: Looking In from the Outside. This is the tale of the Sailing Infidels and how the COVID-19 lockdowns impacted us, even in the remote and secluded paradise that protected us so well. While the world around us was grappling with the challenges of lockdowns after only a few weeks, by that time, we had already been isolated from society at large for nearly eight months. At the onset of the pandemic, we believed our oasis to be the safest haven imaginable. However, little did we know that it had an expiration date.

On the Outside Looking In - The Silence is Broken

As gunshots fill the air, the COVID-19 imposed silence is shattered. Our safety and seclusion are gone as unwelcome visitors and law enforcement officers disrupt our privacy and serenity. Just another day in paradise on Haida Gwaii.

On the Outside Looking In - A Collaboration with AI

While the world was plunged into the COVID-19 drama, the Sailing Infidels watched in horror from their paradisiacal prison. Welcome to our podcast. While many thought that we were in the safest place on Earth, no one, including us, would realize the effect of what that two year isolation and the inevitable return to society would be. In this podcast, written with help from AI and narrated by some "Guy" on Speechify.com we endeavour to relate the our experiences, both good and bad. Where possible we will incorporate audio taken from recorded videos.
