NIGHTS BEFORE THE DAWN - Chapter One
Episode notes
Chapter One of the Preston Carmichael novel "NIGHTS BEFORE THE DAWN:
In the backwoods of a small town in the 70s and 80s two young boys, Johnny and Ritchie, one gay and one straight, found each other in the noise. Two metalhead misfits with a boom-box, ripped jeans, loud rock n roll, and a cabin they built in the woods. In the firelight and static of cassette tapes, they built a bond louder than the world around them. They called it The Crypt. A shack in the woods where the music was loud, the nights belonged to them, and a heavy metal brotherhood was ignited. 'Nights Before The Dawn' is a fever dream of adolescence: a raw, coming-of-age, heart-wrenching story about grief carved into friendship, a bond forged in heavy metal, broken by loss, and remembered in the truth that lingers long after the vinyl stops spinning.
