You'd be surprised at some of the strange laws on our books, both in these United States and abroad. Some seem amusing, reactionary, perhaps old-fashioned; others overbearing. What is our reaction when we reflect on God's law, though? Elder Kevin Young steps us through the opening of Psalm 119, where the Psalmist reflects on God's law and walking closer with Him.Sermon prepared by Pastor Aaron Trelfa and adapted/delivered by Elder Kevin Young, recorded on October 14, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Jesus calls to us, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..." (Matthew 11:28). Just what does it take to prepare and present ourselves to Him? Shelby Clark joins us from her studies at Southern Adventist University to tell us just how easy it is to go to Jesus, how wonderful the relief He offers is, and how we will naturally respond when we let Him work in our lives.Sermon by Shelby Clark, recorded on October 7, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Once upon a time, mankind did enjoy perfect health--body, mind, and spirit! But then our original sin entered the scene, so that when God sought Adam and Eve as usual, they hid in shame. Veteran teacher-turned-discipleship trainer Lynne Macias points out how the sin that made our earliest parents hide in shame separates us from God. It doesn't end there, though! Though in our sin we are separated from God and other ills may follow, we find forgiveness and healing through the One wounded for our sins.In this concluding chapter of our Whole Health Series, we focus on Spiritual Health. Fittingly, if our broken spiritual health is what brought on this sin-sick world, in spiritual healing we will find our whole health restored.Sermon by Lynne Macias, recorded on September 30, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Despite advances in medicine, our health woes only seem to increase--and healthcare spending is skyrocketing with it! In this 2nd installment of the Whole Health seminar series, guest speaker Tapiwa Marawanyika explores physical health, what science and the Bible say about it, its impact on whole health, and its impact on our relationships with God and our fellow man.Our guest speaker for Physical Health is Tapiwa Marawanyika, a trained forensic scientist and microbiologist who's serving as the Education Director at the Wildwood Center for Health Evangelism (Wildwood, GA). This institution educates patients and practitioners alike about whole health, and acts as a training school for medical missionaries from all over the world.Presentation by Tapiwa Marawanyika, recorded on September 29, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Welcome to this first part of a seminar series on Whole Health! Guided by Jesus' words in Luke 10:27, in this series we're exploring how to optimize the health of our body, mind, and spirit, so we can best love God and love our neighbors. In this first presentation, we hear from Stanley Stevenson about Mental Health. Stanley has spent his life's work in clinical social work and in educating social workers alike. Today, he will educate us about the types of cognitive dissonance, how they generally hurt our mental health and relationships, and the ways we can challenge and break that dissonance.Presentation by Stanley Stevenson, recorded September 28, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
It can be hard to wrap our minds around the anticipated phenomenon of Christ's globally visible return. To help us understand, Elder Homer Trecartin takes us on two journeys: First, we review the dimensions we can best fathom (1, 2, and 3 dimensions, followed by the more mind-melting 4th dimension and beyond). That led to the second journey, where he steps us through several examples of when God opened the eyes of chosen Bible characters to reveal the unseen. Altogether, we're reminded to keep our eyes on our Lord and Savior!Sermon by Elder Homer Trecartin, recorded on September 23, 2023, at Ringgold Seventh-day Adventist Church.
