Folks, enjoy the quiet today because tonight gets violent. A bomb cyclone is spinning up off the coast, and it's aiming right at us. This is a genuine, no kidding around blizzard.
Right now you're waking up to about 30 degrees. Calm skies. Deceptively peaceful. Providence tops out near 37 degrees this afternoon. Down along Narragansett Bay, you're seeing 36 degrees. Grab your groceries now. Finish your errands before lunch.
Snow starts falling around 7 to 8 tonight. By 11 it turns ferocious. Snowfall rates hit 2 to 4 inches per hour. Winds crank up to 30 miles an hour with gusts screaming past 55. Along the coast? Gusts could touch 70 miles an hour. That's hurricane territory. Whiteout conditions make driving basically impossible.
