Episode notes
The party spent a quiet evening at the edge of the spore forest, tending to injuries and preparing for the journey ahead. Joel completed a detailed Pokedex entry on the Paras line, theorizing the existence of a vast subterranean fungal network he called the Paracillium, which he read aloud to the group the next morning to widespread fascination. Emrys scouted the spore zone alone, witnessing a Rattata being consumed by a Paras before returning to camp and acknowledging Joel's caution had been well-placed. Xeo trained with his Machop, located a secluded bathing pool, and entrusted his mysterious egg to Terry for safekeeping. Before departing, Joel distributed remedies, urged the group to stay close, and began marking trees as they entered the Pathos Jungle — a dense, overwhelming environment alive with sound, light, and danger.
Progress through the jungle was tense, marked by a close encounter with a predatory feline Pokemon that was narrowly diffused with a piece of Slim Jim. The situation turned dire at a bubbling quicksand bog spanned only by a slick fallen log. Emrys attempted the crossing, fell in, and was immediately set upon by a swarm of bog-adapted Grimers. A Carnivine ambush paralyzed several party members, and Emrys eventually lost consciousness and began to sink. In a chaotic rescue effort, Hana — partially paralyzed — dropped into the quicksand herself to secure him, while Lua rolled her ankle falling in, Summer the Heatmor breathed fire at the Grimers, and Xeo's Charcadet blasted through the swarm. A massive Whiscash then erupted from the bog, wiping out the remaining Grimers in a single tremor, which Joel seized upon to capture it with a Dive Ball. The party dragged Hana and the unconscious Emrys to safety, each claimed one of the strange Grimer variants, and crossed the log one by one before finally reaching a sheltered ranger cave — exhausted, filthy, and safe for the night.
