Sunday Sermon | Adoption: Being Brought Into God's Family | Ephesians | Part 2
Episode notes
Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner continues the series on Ephesians. Ephesians 1:1-10. As we look at the doctrine of adoption, it’s very important for us to recognize what it is declaring and what are the implications.
Nothing we do can bring us into redemption with the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only do we have nothing to offer God by way of our salvation but our sin makes us a disgraceful and despicable people. We are capable and have, in our own flesh, said, thought, and done horrible things, each worthy of an eternity in hell because of the breathtaking holiness of God. If you don’t believe this, you will have a completely wrong understanding of the gospel.
We have earned hell because of our filth and wretchedness. If we forget that, when we consider our adoption, we miss out on seeing the pure love of Christ.
Why would God adopt us while we were sinners? Because He loved us.
