The day of the Lord is at hand

The day of the Lord is at hand Everyone saw the locusts. Joel saw more: judgment from God. Many times God used natural disasters to bring judgment: He sent the flood in the time of Noah (Gen. 6), the plagues in Egypt (Ex. 7-10), and the mighty wind that caused a storm during which Jonah was thrown into the sea (Jon. 1:4). Yes, God uses natural disasters as judgment. No, not every natural disaster is a direct judgment on the very area where it strikes. If a flood, hurricane, plague, or other disaster strikes one particular area, we are wise to remember that we live in a world that is affected-at every level-by sin. God is not necessarily demonstrating His displeasure with every disaster; sin is everywhere, and we all pay the price for it. But the locust plague in Joel was a different story; though it was a terrible and fierce attack, it was not God's judgment. But it was a warning. And Joel, through "the word of the STUDY THE BOOK Joel 1:15 LORD" (1:1), realized it. As bad as the locusts were, they were nothing compared to the real judgment that would surely come if Judah didn't repent: complete and utter destruction and captivity at the hands of their enemies. The locusts were just a taste. They were a reminder of God's power and the destruction of sin. They were the living, breathing proof of Joel's message to the people of Judah: repent. MORE INSIGHT The day of the Lord is not an isolated phenomenon or a single event in human history. Periods in Israel's early history and later history and the coming of Jesus and His Second Coming are all called "the day of the Lord" in Scripture. The Lord refreshes the land

The Lord refreshes the land From the first word of Joel through verse 17 of chapter 2, the outlook is gloomy. Ominous. Downright nasty. From locusts and judgment to battles and earthquakes, we wonder if there is anything good in this book. And then verse 18, the pivot of the entire book, jumps off the page like a bolt of light-ning: "Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, and pity His people." God would not abandon His people or His promises. Yes, He would punish. Yes, He would judge. Yes, He would give them over to their enemies. But He would not turn His back on them. Not only that, but everything used for punishment would become undone: the grain and wine and oil would be sent to satisfy (v. 19), the enemies would be driven away (v. 20), and God would restore the years the locust had devoured (v. 25). It's one thing to return a land to harvest and remove our enemies, but God also has the power to give us back the years we lost. Oh glory. But there's more. "And it shall come to STUDY THE BOOK Joel 2:18-32 pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions" (v. 28). Look at believers today. The Spirit is available to all, men and women both speak the Word, both young and old have the anointing of the Spirit on their lives, and we are no longer "Jews" and "Gentiles" but all flesh, found righteous in God by our faith in Christ. And "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (v. 32). MORE INSIGHT The minor prophets share a similar message many times, particularly when it pertains to a prophecy about Christ. Treasures In Jars Of Clay

We have this treasure in jars of clay... What is your most treasured possession? A favorite piece of jewelry? A drawing by your child or a heartfelt letter that comes from a dear friend? All that we treasure here on earth will one day turn back into dust. There’s only one person that will not—the greatest treasure in the world—Jesus. The same Creator God who said, Let there be light, chose to put His light in us—in you and in me! The Bible calls this treasure the light of the knowledge of the glory of God displayed in the face of Jesus Christ, and it says… …we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. What an amazing gift. That beautiful, eternal light—faith in God—fills us here and now, in our temporary, limited human bodies. Do you have this treasure? Believe in God. False Leadership-Contending The Faith Jude all

Prince Charles, who is next in line to the British throne, has let it be known that if and when he becomes king he would like to be regarded as Defender of all faiths rather than Defender of the faith - the Christian faith. Living now as we do in a multi-faith rather than a Christian society, he said, it is important that this shift be reflected in the duties of the monarch. No Christian would want to deny any individual or group the right to follow or practice the faith of their choice, but we must be careful that tolerance of other religions does not cause us to fall into the trap of thinking that Christianity is just one religion among many. Decidedly, it is not. Christianity is in a category all by itself. If that belief opens us up to the charge of arrogance, then so be it. Recently, I heard a religious commentator say on television that one religion is as good as another. One religion as good as another? How utterly absurd. It sounds broadminded but actually it is the judgment of ignorance. No one would ever make that statement if they understood the purpose of Christ's coming to this world, His atoning death on the cross, and His glorious resurrection. We are not unmindful of the spiritual glow which comes from other lamps, but our claim for Jesus is the claim He made for Himself - He alone is the Light of the world, and thus utterly indispensable to salvation. O Father, help me comprehend even more fully and clearly the truths of the faith into which, by Your grace, You have brought me. I cannot live by opinions, I must live by convictions. 💕Love Unlimited💕 1 Corinthians (13) Vv4-7

In a godly sense, real love is an unconditional, sacrificial action rather than just a fleeting emotion. Modeled perfectly through Christ's selfless sacrifice, it prioritizes the spiritual and moral well-being of others. Rather than seeking selfish gain, this "agape" love is patient, kind, and seeks to honor God. Understanding and applying this type of love in everyday life involves several core biblical principles: Sacrificial Action (Agape): God's love isn't transactional. It is a conscious choice to put others' needs before your own, even when it is difficult or undeserved. Selflessness & Patience: As outlined in 1 Corinthians 13, real love does not envy, boast, or keep a record of wrongs. It requires extending grace and choosing to remain steadfast. Truth-Telling: Worldly love often equates to total comfort or unquestioning approval. Godly love, however, rejoices in truth, corrects with gentleness, and encourages others to grow in their faith. Humility & Forgiveness: True love requires swallowing pride and actively forgiving others. It mirrors the forgiveness we have received from God.
