As Daniel continues recovering at the farm, his family begins to understand the life he built beyond Earth—the worlds he has seen, the Valari he now considers family, and the responsibilities that still reach him even while he sits at Caroline’s kitchen table. For Libby especially, the universe becomes less frightening as Daniel begins showing her the wonder hidden inside everything he survived.

But in Washington, Daniel’s growing power creates a different kind of unease. Military and political leaders begin asking what it means for Earth to depend on a commander they cannot control, and whether partnership with the Valari can exist without becoming another attempt to place Daniel beneath someone else’s authority. As plans for the future take shape, one truth becomes increasingly difficult to ignore: Daniel may love Earth, but Earth is no longer the only place he calls home
