Ezekiel 5: Ezekiel Shaves with a Sword and then Attacks his Hair - David Alley | Peace

The Lord tells Jeremiah to shave with a sword, then weigh his hair, divide it into thirds, and then attack one third of it with his sword. Ezekiel seems to be asked to do many strange things. Why is he doing this, and what does it mean?

Ezekiel 4: Ezekiel is tied up and lays on his side for 430 Days - David Alley | Peace

Ezekiel is told by the Lord to build a model city of the Lord and symbolically lay siege to it. Then he is bound and told to lay on his left side for 390 days for the years of the sins of Israel, and to lay on his right side 40 days for the years of the sins of Judah. What do these numbers mean? And why is God wanting him to do this?

Ezekiel 2: Ezekiel is Given a Double Sided Scroll to Eat - David Alley | Peace Christian Church

As Ezekiel's weird vision continues, he is called by God to speak for him, and as part of that is given a scroll with writing on the inside as normal, but also on the outside. Lamentations 5: Jeremiah Prays the Saddest Prayer Ever Prayed - David Alley | Peace

In the last chapter of Lamentations the numerical pattern in the literature continues, but this time we find Jeremiah changes the content... and prays one of the saddest prayers of all time for those around him. I wonder what would happen if we carried such a big heart for others too?

Lamentations 4: The Worst Sights Ever Seen - Death, Plague and Cannibalism - David Alley | Peace

It's a good thing Jeremiah used poetic language to describe the horrors he witnessed, because children reading the Bible won't grasp the fullness of how bad it was. In this chapter, Jeremiah describes through another beautiful Hebrew acrostic poem, the worst sights he had even seen.

Lamentations 3: Jeremiah Laments Over the Horrible Things that Happened to Him - David Alley | Peace

"I am the man who has seen affliction..." says Jeremiah in this third chapter which describes his own personal suffering and affliction. Anyone want to swap places with Jeremiah? Despite its sadness this particular chapters holds a special place of affection in my (David's) heart.
