In this episode of The Bible Show, Sam and Will walk through Matthew 4, where Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. You will hear how the wilderness setting connects to Israel’s story, why Jesus fasts for 40 days, and how each temptation targets identity with the words, “If you are the Son of God.” They also show how Jesus answers Satan with Scripture (including passages from Deuteronomy), and how Satan twists Scripture (including Psalm 91) to push a shortcut around suffering. The conversation applies this to real life by talking about “wilderness seasons,” temptation patterns, and why suffering can trigger doubts about God’s love. Later, the episode transitions to the rest of Matthew 4, including Jesus’ move to Galilee, his message “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” and his calling of the first disciples. If this helped you, share it with a friend who is learning the Bible and wants practical encouragement for temptation and suffering. Like, comment, and subscribe for more.
