Season 1
Early Catawba Landowners & The Sandusky Connection to the Firelands Region
Don discusses the names and information from 1850s tax ledgers from the township, even before it was called Catawba Island Township. Many early Catawba names are discussed, as well as the Sandusky connection to development of the peninsula. Thank you for listening to Season One! We hope you have enjoyed these oral histories of Catawba Island.
The Wine and Peach Industries of Catawba Island - Part III
Episode 8 is the final installment of the Don Rhodes’ presentation on the wine and peach industries. If you have listened to episodes 6 and 7 you will know that this final portion has audio quality issues, but it is the final piece of the presentation and we still wanted you to have the opportunity to listen to it. If you have a difficult time hearing the podcast, then you can feel free to move on to episode 9.
The Wine and Peach Industries of Catawba Island - Part II
Don Rhodes continues his presentation on the wine and peach industries of Catawba Island. He shares even more of his fruit knowledge, a great trivia piece about Napoleon and canning jars and many more interesting tidbits. This is not the end of the presentation, though, because the audio quality severely diminished from the point where this podcast stops. We have done our best to enhance the audio, though, and will share the remainder in Episode 8 next week. We will also release Episode 9 at the same time in case you have difficulty listening to Episode 8.
