Teruo Nakamura was the indigenous Formosan Japanese war soldier who survived the war and post war years in the jungle not aware that the war has ended. And when he was found, he would find his status in limbo - presumed dead he was stateless, homeless and would find his family under new identity.

Private Teruo Nakamura (Amis: Attun Palalin), an Amis aborigine from Taiwan and member of the Takasago Volunteers, was discovered by the Indonesian Air Force on Morotai, and surrendered to a search patrol on December 18, 1974. Nakamura, who spoke neither Japanese nor Chinese, was the last confirmed holdout.
