Deut. 8:2-3. When we are led in the desert, we can be tested by God. God is sovereign. He tests us, He doesn’t tempt us. He does so, to know what is in our hearts, to purify us, to help us grow. On the way, He strengthens us by giving Manna and by helping to understand that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from Him.

Approaching Jesus (1); A punishment? ... Repent!

Sin causes suffering, pain and death. We cannot point to others and say that they are worse sinners. Every disaster invites us to repent and to turn from the dark reality of sin to the true light of God in Jesus, and to the pardon and reconciliation He offers.

Consolation

Water and fire will come (it says ‘when’ and not ‘if’). The Lord promises: When it comes, I will be with you (=the Name of Yahweh and the promise of Jesus: I am with you, till the end of the World). Isaiah 43: 2 and 3a
