Urinating Tree hopes for the best but is prepared for the worst
Episode notes
YouTube sports satirist and creator Urinating Tree joins the show to chat with Russell Holiday about his 10-year journey producing hit series like Lolcows in Sports, The Hater's Guide, and A Legacy of Failure. Tree starts off by diving into his Pittsburgh Penguins fandom, watching Artūrs Šilovs carve out a role in the Steel City, the infamous 2017 Stanley Cup jinx on Pekka Rinne, and the grueling production grind behind This Week in Sportsball. As well, they get into the challenges of marketing hockey across the United States, the rise of the NCAA route, and why he’s finally retiring the raspy Carolina Hurricanes voice after their Stanley Cup victory.
Then Russell and Tree get into their shared trauma as fans of perennially chaotic franchises, comparing the Vancouver Canucks to the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco 49ers. They dive deep into Tree’s 52-minute Vancouver Canucks edition of A Legacy of Failure, discussing the franchise's snake-bitten lottery luck, trading Quinn Hughes, and what to expect from EP40 moving forward. Tree also reflects on getting blocked by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Twitter, and shares a hilarious message of sympathy and hope for long-suffering Canucks fans heading into the new season.
If you are sick of Luke Gazdic's poor analysis during the intermission, if you are looking for someone to banter with during the game and if you want to meet a bunch of crazy hockey fans then this stream is the one for you. There will be mayhem in chat so make sure you say hello when you stop by.
