Some stories begin with a headline. This one begins with a name. MMIW Epidemic: Broken Trust & Corruption is an investigative podcast examining the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, children, and men—and the systems that too often fail Indigenous families seeking answers and justice. Through family voices, firsthand accounts, investigative reporting, law-enforcement experience, historical context, and documentation from Tribal communities across the United States, this podcast will examine difficult questions surrounding missing-person cases, unresolved deaths, jurisdictional failures, institutional accountability, broken promises, and allegations of corruption when supported by evidence. The podcast is connected to the grassroots #MMIWBikeRunUSA2020 and #MMIWBikeRunUSA2021 movements, which carried the names and stories of missing and murdered Indigenous people across America through running, bicycling, prayer, song, ceremony, and community. The trailer remembers and raises awareness for individuals whose names and stories represent the human cost behind the statistics—including Lakota Renville, Kaysera Stops Pretty Places, Rosella WoodenThigh, Tina Marie Finley, Ashley Loring HeavyRunner, and many others whose families continue seeking answers, accountability, or justice. This podcast will not sensationalize tragedy. We will follow the evidence. We will distinguish documented facts from allegations. We will ask difficult questions while keeping victims, survivors, families, and Tribal communities at the center of the story. Featured Music “Fist in the Air” — Lil Mike & Funny Bone featuring K.A.S.P. Used with permission. The song became part of the journey and message surrounding the MMIW movement and #MMIWBikeRunUSA.
