Jesus Is Our Thanksgiving - part 7 of 7

Do you have a thankful spirit? Mirriam-Webster defines thanksgiving as: a celebration of divine goodness, and a prayer expressing gratitude. I prefer Dictionary.com’s definition because most of their definitions of thanksgiving end with, especially to God; like this one: Thanksgiving is a grateful acknowledgment of benefits or favors, especially to God. However, I think we can all agree that sometimes we get caught up focusing on the negative which causes us to have a grumbling spirit; rather than focusing on all the many blessings that God has poured out to us, and choosing to have a spirit of thanksgiving, lifting up our prayers of thanks; to God. Today, Pastor Dennis wraps up the final message in our “Jesus Is” series, and discusses the spirit of Thanksgiving that we should all desire, as followers of Jesus.

Become An Example

Have you ever thought of what kind of example you are? Every day, people are watching us, our children, our co-workers, our bosses. What do our lives say about our Christian walk? The Bible is full of calls to imitate. Ephesians tells us to be imitators of God, 1 Peter tells us that Christ left an example for us to follow in His steps, and in 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul calls us to imitate him, just as he is an imitator of Christ. So, are you living your life in a way, that would make others desire Jesus?

When God Says No

We live- in an age of immediate gratification, where waiting often feels unbearable. This impatience can even spill over into our prayer lives, where we find ourselves wanting quick answers, just to find that God’s timing doesn’t always line up with ours.
