Episode notes
Hello, Friends! Let's step back to 1939 for nearly five hours of classic old time radio from the Golden Age of broadcasting. It was the year of The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, “Over the Rainbow,” the New York World’s Fair, and the beginning of World War II in Europe.
Tonight’s collection features original radio broadcasts from 1939, with mystery, drama, adventure, and vintage entertainment from a remarkable year in history. Some recordings show their age with occasional hiss or fading, but I’ve selected the best-quality versions available.
Let's get cozy together, and leave 2026 outside. It's 1939 tonight... here only on Mel’s Sunday Night Radio.
