A puncture wound. A patient carrying some of the heaviest comorbidities we see in podiatric medicine, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, peripheral neuropathy, visual impairment, and poor circulation.

What followed was one of the most complex case trajectories I've managed, a diabetic foot ulcer that progressed to bone infection and required amputation of the fourth and fifth toes and metatarsals.

And then it healed.

In this episode, I go over the full arc of this case from the moment the patient walked in to a fully healed amputation wound, the clinical decisions, the setbacks, the surgical intervention, and ultimately, the outcome.
