Legend Seeds Agronomy Team: Crop & Harvest Update 9.28.26

Well, if Steven Resler’s musical debut doesn't give it away… harvest season is here! With combines starting to roll and conditions looking a little different everywhere you go, our agronomy team is back to give us the latest from across the Legend Seeds footprint. Let’s check in on what they’re seeing in the fields, what’s coming out of the combine, and what growers should be watching as harvest gets underway!

Jake Andrle - When Good Corn Goes Down: Corn Stalk Lodging

As harvest approaches, stalk quality can change quickly, making lodging a major concern in some corn fields. In this episode, Jake Andrle breaks down what we’re seeing this season, how to scout for stalk integrity, and how lodging risk should impact harvest priority. We’ll also discuss hybrid differences and management considerations growers can take into next season to help build stronger, more resilient stands.

Jake Andrle - Silage Harvest Update

In this episode, Jake Andrle joins us to share a silage harvest update from the field and break down how we evaluate hybrids, biological products, and other management practices throughout the season. Jake walks us through the silage testing process, what we’ve seen so far at harvest, how the data is collected and used, and where dealers and growers can access those results to help guide future product and management decisions, specifically focusing on silage hybrids.

Legend Seeds Agronomy Team: Growing Season Update 9.8.26

A short and sweet update from our Legend Sales Agronomists, who are busy putting boots on the ground in the field! Mitch Bass, Chase Schutt, Dan Olson, and Tyler Price join me for this episode to highlight some of the corn and soybean products excelling in their areas, along with a quick update on how crops are performing across the board.

Jake Andrle & Chris Graf - TS601: What Have We Learned in the Field?

In this episode of Legend in the Field, we take a closer look at TS601 from YieldMaster Solutions and what we’ve learned since its introduction. Jake Andrle and Chris Graf discuss field performance, agronomic expectations, testing results, and where TS601 fits within a broader disease management program. Most importantly, they explore what real-world plots are telling us about the product and who should be paying attention.

Dan Olson - Soybean Diseases: SDS and More!

This episode takes a closer look at soybean diseases and what growers should be watching for as we move through the season. Dan Olson joins us to discuss the diseases showing up in fields, with a special focus on Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS), including what conditions contribute to pressure, how to identify it, and management considerations. We’ll also cover other common soybean diseases and what growers can do now to protect yield and set themselves up for future seasons.

Jake Andrle - Silage Harvest Timing & Storage: When it is Time to Chop?

Silage harvest timing can make a big difference in storage, fermentation and feed quality. In this episode, Jake Andrle breaks down what growers should be watching for as harvest approaches. From plant maturity and moisture levels to measuring moisture accurately and making the call when weather doesn’t cooperate. We’ll cover the risks of chopping too early or too late and how to hit the right harvest window for quality silage.

Mitch Bass - Know the Signs: Corn Leaf Diseases

Corn leaf diseases can have a major impact on yield, and this season, growers are keeping a close eye on diseases like tar spot, southern rust, and northern corn leaf blight. In this episode, we sit down with agronomist Mitch Bass to discuss the leaf diseases showing up in fields, why tar spot has become such a significant concern, and what sets it apart from other common corn diseases. Mitch shares how to identify the early signs of these diseases, the weather and field conditions that favor their development, and practical management strategies growers can use to minimize their impact. We also look ahead at what can still be done this season to help protect yield potential and prepare for future disease pressure.

Jake Andrle & Steven Resler: Fall Seeding Alfalfa

Fall seeding season is right around the corner, and getting a new alfalfa stand off to a strong start begins long before the seed goes in the ground. In this episode of Legend in the Field, we discuss what it takes to establish a successful fall-seeded alfalfa crop—from seedbed preparation and seeding rates to timing, fertility, and the management decisions that can make or break a stand before winter. Whether you're planting your first alfalfa field or looking to improve your establishment success, this conversation is packed with practical tips you can use this fall.
