Then the sun breaks through and temperatures absolutely soar, we're talking near-record warmth. South Central Kentucky hits 80 degrees — that's 30 degrees above normal for early March. Central Kentucky reaches 75, north Central climbs to 77. Eastern Kentucky tops out at 79 under partly sunny skies, breezy southwest winds around 10 miles an hour keep things feeling springlike.
