In Matthew 24, Jesus does something remarkable. Rather than leaving his followers in the dark about what is coming, he pulls back the curtain on history itself and says, here is what to look for. The central message is not one of fear but of preparation. Jesus describes a progression of signs, wars and rumors of wars, ethnic tensions, famines, plagues, earthquakes, and growing spiritual deception, and compares them to the early contractions of a woman in labor. These are not random chaos. They are purposeful indicators that something greater is approaching. The spiritual lesson woven through all of it is this: the world is not spinning out of control. History is moving exactly where God said it would move. For us, that changes everything. When we see unsettling headlines or feel the weight of a world growing darker, we are not watching a story without an author. We are watching a story moving toward its climax. The question Jesus presses us with is not whether we can predict the date, but whether we are spiritually awake and anchored in truth when the signs begin to intensify around us.
