The first week in October is Mental Illness Awareness Week. In honor of it, I recorded an excerpt of my novel Big Flame and Little Buck, Chapter 1, entitled 1983: A Concert, A Wreck, and A Phone Call. It is the first time we meet Pat Bates and Dante Zuckerman, the summer before their senior year of high school.
