In this episode, Wind and Kevin take a practical look at emergency preparedness and the simple decisions you can make now, while stores are stocked, the power is on, and there’s time to think clearly. What would you actually need if electricity, clean water, communications, or access to food were suddenly interrupted? They explore food, water, backup power, lighting, communication, medical supplies and other essentials—while considering something often overlooked: your emergency plan should reflect your own circumstances. And some of the conventional advice may deserve a second look. Rice is one of the most commonly recommended foods to stockpile—but is it always the smartest choice when water and cooking fuel may be limited? And what relatively simple device could give you access to safe drinking water when the usual infrastructure isn’t available? Kevin and Wind also share what they personally keep on hand and why, not as a prescription for everyone, but as a starting point for thinking through what would make you and the people you love more resilient and self-sufficient. Preparedness isn’t about expecting catastrophe. It’s about recognizing that when something unexpected happens, the worst time to start preparing is after it has already begun. The Guests Are Back And Not Happy!

To everyone’s delight, the guests are at it again. Pastina and Rigatoni somehow manage to make bickering charming as they sit in for Kevin and Wind, who are busy with the festivities surrounding Wind’s son’s wedding. From trading insults and complaining about California’s apparent lack of good food, to alluding to Rigatoni’s past indiscretions, nothing is off limits. Then there’s the wedding itself—on the sand. Which meant taking off their shoes - which apparently ruined their outfits. “Who does this?” becomes the question of the day as they attempt to understand the strange customs of a California beach wedding. Yes, they attended the wedding. But they were not invited to the family breakfast the next morning, presenting them with one uncomfortable reality: apparently, they’re not “family.” Rigatoni is not happy. Between the insults, indignation, questionable revelations, and hilarious observations, these two once again prove why they’ve become two of Shred and Soul’s most endearing—and politically incorrect—guests. The Guitar Ninja has entered the building shredding in his signature style that only Kevin Wood can do. But first the episode kicks off with some big Soundgarden news. Kevin and Wind talk about the band returning to Seattle to perform at the Seahawks’ first game of the season—and the even bigger news of a new Soundgarden album featuring vocals Chris Cornell recorded and completed before his passing. For Kevin, the news carries a little more weight, bringing the past and present of the Seattle music scene together in an unexpected way. Then it’s time for the main event.
