Episode notes
What happens when rural America stops feeling heard? In this powerful long-form conversation, constitutional conservative and Oklahoma gubernatorial candidate Jake Merrick joins INsights & Straight Talk with Rodd Duff & Producer Barbie to explore the growing crisis of trust across America from government and media to education, faith, and community leadership. In this 2-hour deep-dive discussion, Rodd Duff and Jake Merrick unpack why so many Americans — especially across rural Oklahoma and the Great Middle Class — feel disconnected from institutions that once represented stability and trust. Instead of soundbites and outrage culture, this episode focuses on long-form dialogue, grassroots leadership, constitutional rights, faith-centered values, communication infrastructure, and the role curiosity plays in rebuilding healthy civic conversations. Jake Merrick shares insights from his background as a former Oklahoma State Senator, pastor, radio host, and grassroots political leader, while Rodd Duff frames the larger cultural questions surrounding modern America’s communication breakdown, political polarization, and the future of independent media platforms. Together, they explore how local leadership, parental rights, constitutional conservatism, and community-driven engagement are reshaping conversations happening across Oklahoma and beyond.
