Your midday Illinois weather update Multiple flood alerts are active across Illinois today as a significant storm system approaches, bringing heavy rain and potential severe weather to much of the state this afternoon and evening. Right now we're enjoying a mild morning with temperatures climbing through the 60s, but this calm won't last long. By 3 P.M., we'll hit our high of 76 degrees with southwest winds picking up ahead of the storms.

Your evening Illinois weather update Right now, we're tracking multiple severe thunderstorm watches across southern Illinois, with the most significant activity expected to push through the Illinois River valley by Friday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas west of the Illinois River under an enhanced risk for severe weather tomorrow. This Thursday started cool with temperatures bottoming out at 48 degrees around 2 A.M.
