Episode notes
Episode 37: The Dink
What's the score when a washed-up tennis prodigy, a pickleball revolution, an impossible-to-please father, and Andy Roddick all collide? Apparently... LOVE!
This week, we're taking on The Dink, the Apple TV sports comedy that pits old-school tennis against the unstoppable rise of pickleball. Dusty Boyd is desperate to save his father's country club and finally earn the approval that's eluded him his entire life—but is a paddle really the answer, or does this movie need a bigger overhaul?
We break down what worked, what missed the baseline, and the story changes we'd make to give Dusty's journey more heart, bigger laughs, stronger stakes, and a championship-worthy ending. Along the way, we discuss country club politics, sports movie clichés, father-son drama, celebrity cameos, and why pickleball somehow became the hill everyone was willing to die on.
Whether you're a tennis purist, a pickleball fanatic, or just someone who loves hearing movies get the rewrite they deserve, this episode is for you.
Game. Set. Rewrite.
