How Did We Get From Whole Class Instruction to Individualization

Cultivating & Integrating Literacy Across the Curriculum by Howard Slepkov

Episode notes

At the beginning of the last century and well into the '60s, teaching meant standing in front of an entire class and delivering lessons in every subject. As the baby boomers began to enter the teaching profession, the move was to sort students in subjects like mathematics and language arts into ability-based groups.and go from there. However, now, especially in the 21st century, educators realize that, to be effective, lessons must be individualized and aimed at the needs and abilities of each student. This podcast covers that change.
