2.3: John "War Machine" Koppenhaver & The Brutalized Assault of Christy Mack
Episode notes
Hey, everyone.
I'm just popping in to give a brief message to anyone who reads these descriptions. When Curzon & I started the show, it was to talk about things we were passionate about and spread the information and knowledge we know. We wanted to also incorporate our humor into the stories because so often, true crime is somber and hard to listen to. Understandably so, no one wants to smile while hearing about some of the horrible things that happen in the world. But Curzon and I wanted to make it not so hard to hear. We wanted to make it so that you still got the facts, you still got the knowledge, but you don't walk about feeling so numb from what you've learned today. But, along the way, we came to the realization that we not only wanted to share what we know, but we wanted to raise awareness. This episode was not only hard to talk about but hard to research. It's a heavy episode to listen to, maybe the heaviest. There are mentions of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, emotional and physical abuse. Curzon and I want you to know, first and foremost, that your mental health is important to us. If, at any point, this episode gets to be too heavy for you, there is zero shame in pausing. It is okay to stop the episode and walk away. You can even skip the episode entirely.
We want to raise awareness about abuse and evil things that can be done in relationships. The point of this episode isn't to capitalize or gain something from the terrifying and harrowing experience that Christy Mack had to live through. The goal with this episode is that you walk away, understanding more about domestic violence in relationships and how to spot the red flags. Not only for yourself but for others.
As promised in the episode, I'm going to leave some sources here.
