Because You Said So: Trusting God Even When You Don’t Understand
Will you obey God when His instructions do not make sense to you?
In this episode of The Great Hope Message, Jack Alan Levine explores the difference between trusting God only when we understand His plan and obeying Him simply because He has spoken.
In Luke 5, Simon Peter had worked through the night and caught nothing. As an experienced fisherman, he had every reason to believe trying again would be pointless. Yet when Jesus told him to lower the nets once more, Peter responded, “Because You say so, I will let down the nets.” His obedience led to a catch so large that the nets began to break.
Jack reminds listeners that God can see what we cannot. His instructions may challenge our experience, logic, timing, or expectations, but His wisdom is greater than our limited understanding. Faith does not require knowing every detail of the plan. It requires knowing the One who gave the direction.
Obedience can be especially difficult after disappointment. When we have already tried, prayed, waited, or failed, God may ask us to trust Him again. The temptation is to allow yesterday’s outcome to determine today’s faith. But one word from Jesus can change the result.
This episode encourages believers to surrender the need for complete explanations. God may ask us to forgive, wait, give, speak, move, remain, or try again before we understand why. The blessing is not found in having every answer—it is found in trusting God enough to obey.
