Geeks Without God
by Geeks Without GodThis week, we are taking a look at Season one of Severance, on Apple Plus! It's a weird and creepy dystopian show about maintaining a work life balance by not having any work in your life or life in your work. Season 2 will start releasing shortly before this season airs so take some time and catch up because as soon as you do, we know you will want to watch the next season! This week, we take a look at the film "Heretic," starring Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East. The movie explores a lot of themes of faith and god and especially organized religion. All three of us really loved that part and had mixed feelings about some of the rest. Spoilers abound! This week, we are going to give you a preview of Vilification Tennis for 2025. It is the comedy show that brought the three of us together and we don't toot our own horn all that often. Well some tooting will happen this week as we run down our big plans for the upcoming year. This week we have guest Barabbas Jones joining us to talk about his new book - The Case Against Jesus. A lot of Christians like to talk about what a good person Jesus was but was he really? Barabbas read all the gospels and he has some opinions about how great this Jesus guy really was. We got a chance to read his book and talked to him about it! He also gets a chance to answer our five questions! Time for a Geeky Boner episode! With just a few days to go before Thanksgiving, our boners were definitely focused on food. Nick has a new smoker he's trying out and Molly has big plans for a Thanksgiving meal. Tim is going to Disney again. Whatever. This week we are talking about our annual trip to Omegacon in Siren Wisconsin! We always get the chance to try out some new board games and we love to get a chance to tell you about them so you can add them to your annual holiday gift buying list! Believe it or not, we made it all the way to 640 episodes without ever looking at the Ten Commandments. With states requiring they be posted in classrooms, we thought we ought to take a look at how effective the commandments are in living a moral and/or ethical life. There are, of course, many versions of the commandments so we picked one. And a version they use for kids that is actually a lot better than the biblical ones! Also, we get the chance to answer five questions for the first time in a while! The Rise of Christofacism
This week's episode takes a look at the rise of Christofacism in America. It started before the 1980's but everyone's favorite President got that thing going and - well - here we are. Guest Jeff Grapevine joins us to discuss the growth of the Christian right as a political movement in the US.This week is the deadline for voting pre registration in Minnesota so it seems like a good time to talk about voting and why we still do it and think it is important. Believe it or not, we have our reasons and we are going to tell you all about them! If you need help figuring out how to vote, hit us up! We are here to help! It's a Geeky Boners episode! This week we are taking a look and some of our new favorite things or, in the cast of Molly and Nick, old favorite things. Tim reminds all of you to get some of those sweet sweet D & D stamps from the post office!
