Comparative Religion- Islam Part 1

...Before we dive in, we just wanted to let you know that we experienced some technical difficulties during recording, so you might notice some slight variations in the audio quality. Bishop Shines discusses Islam with references from the Quran this week. Islam traces its roots back to Abraham. They deny the Christian doctrine that states we need atoning/sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. They believe that only faith in Allah would bring salvation and strict obedience to the Islamic law. How did Islam gain its strength? As a believer, you need to understand this to defeat the enemy. Additional scriptures: Zephaniah 3:10 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Church of Christ

...Bishop Shines discusses the Church of Christ this week. One of their doctrines is that they believe they are the only true church and that baptism is required for salvation. Salvation comes if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Additional scriptures: Matthew 27:38-44, Revelation 12:11, Proverbs 18:21, Ephesians 4:11-16, Job 1:1-8 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Christian Science (Scientology)

... Bishop Shines discusses Scientology this week using Matthew 9:2-7 KJV. Mary Baker Eddy discovered Christian Science, published their book, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” Christian Scientists teach that Jesus was not the Christ, and his sacrifice did not cleanse us from sin. They believe that sickness and evil are illusions and that the Bible could only be understood through their teachings. Do you believe in the power of the mind or the Blood of Jesus? Additional scriptures: Revelation 12:1-8, Exodus 3:14, Revelation 1:17-18, Proverbs 23:7, 2 Timothy 2:15 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Hinduism

... Bishop Shines discusses Hinduism this week using Luke 1:80 KJV. Hindus believe that Jesus was taken out to the deserts of India, where Hindu gurus trained him on how to work miracles. Scriptures discuss that it was common for Jesus to be where he was raised. Was Jesus in the desert or Nazareth? Hindus believe that all roads lead to god. In today’s culture, many have a pantheistic ideology that there are many ways to god. Do you think that Jesus is the only way? Additional scriptures: Luke 1:57-80, Luke 2:1-23, Luke 1:16, Matthew 3:1, Mark 6:1-4, Matthew 13:53-57, Luke 4:16, Luke 4:22, Matthew 5, Joshua 24:15, Exodus 20:2-3, Exodus 34:14, Deuteronomy 6:14, 2 Kings 17:35, Psalms 1:1-2, Acts 4:12, Proverbs 14:12 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Mormonism

...Bishop Shines discusses Mormonism this week using Genesis 14:18 KJV. Mormons believe that they are the order of Melchizedek. Melchizedek is a typology of Christ. Christ is our High Priest on the Father's right-hand interceding for believers. Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to be saved? Additional scriptures: Hebrews 7:1-24, Amos 3:7, Malachi 4:1-6, Matthew 17:11, Matthew 17:1-12, Ezekiel 18:20, Romans 14:12, Galatians 1:6-8, Acts 15:22-24, Acts 20:17-30, Galatians 3:12, Revelation 22:18, Revelation 5:6 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Catholicism Pt. 3

...Bishop Shines discusses Catholicism and salvation and works this week using Luke 18:18-23 KJV. Catholic doctrine teaches that salvation comes by meritorious works. The Word of God says that if you believe in Jesus Christ, you will have eternal life, not the works you do. When you believe it has action, you will work. Are you doing the work of God, believing in Him whom He hath sent? Additional scriptures: Romans 3:28, Matthew 22:36, John 3:36, John 5:24, John 20:30-31, Romans 6:23, 1 John 5:13, James 2:19, Romans 4:4-5, John 5:19-24, John 6:25-29, Luke 9:62 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Catholicism Pt. 2

...Bishop Shines discusses Catholicism and papal infallibility this week using Mathew 16:13-18 KJV. Infallibility means that the pope can’t mislead. If Peter was the first pope, then something in scripture should have been declared in scripture that he was infallible. Jesus was the only person given unique infallibility. Christ is the High Priest; asking a priest for forgiveness is unnecessary. If you are blood washed, your priest is in Christ. Additional scriptures: John 14:6, Matthew 18:18, Matthew 18:1-20, Ephesians 2:11-20, 1 Peter 2:7, 1 Peter 2:5, 1 Peter 2:1-6, 2 Corinthians 12:11, Galatians 2:11-13, Acts 8:4-13, Hebrews 7:12, Hebrews 7:1-17, Ephesians 2:11-20 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion- Catholicism Pt. 1

...This week, Bishop Shines discusses Catholicism and purgatory using Hebrews 10:14-15 KJV. Purgatory is where sinners go after death to have their sins cleansed before going to heaven. As a believer, we don’t have to pay for what He has already paid for; we go through a state of purgatory all the time. If we must pay for our sins when we die, then Christ didn’t pay it all. Did Christ do it? If He did, then it's done. Additional scriptures: Hebrews 10:1-15, Romans 8:1, Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Corinthians 3:14-15, 1 Corinthians 1:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:20-21, 1 Peter 3:17-18, 1 Corinthians 3:13, John 19:28-30, John 17:1-4, Hebrews 10:14, Hebrews 1:1-3 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion Jehovah's Witnesses Part 7

...."This episode may have minor audio inconsistencies or technical glitches due to unforeseen circumstances during recording/production." Bishop Shines continues the discussion of Jehovah’s Witnesses using Acts 5:1-4 KJV. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit is an “it”. The Holy Spirit is a person with a function. As a believer, you must be grounded in the Word of God. If you know the Truth, you can defeat the enemy. Are you reading your Word or depending on what others say? Additional scriptures: Acts 13:1-4, Acts 21:10-12, John 14:15-17, 25-26, Zephaniah 3:10, John 16:5 This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam. Comparative Religion Jehovah's Witnesses Part 6

....Bishop Shines uses John 1:1 KJV and APMC to continue discussing Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Trinity. Jehovah’s Witness claim that Christ isn’t co-eternal with the Father. They believe that Christ is not equal to the Father and view Him as a separate subordinate being. How can the Jehovah’s Witness speak on what they say and the scripture never declares it? As a believer you must know your Word to know the truth, because cult religions are expecting you not to know it. Additional scriptures: John 1:2-3, 2 Timothy 2:15, John 8:58, Exodus 3:14, John 8:44, Exodus 20:4-5,Acts 2:38, Philippians 2;1-11, John 1:14, 1 Timothy 3:16, Colossians 2:9, Titus 2:13, Hebrews 1:3, This 25-week series will review nine organized religions: The Apostolic Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Catholicism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Christian Science (Scientology), Church of Christ, and Islam.
