In March of 2020 the Covid Lockdowns began. This impacted the life of the United Kingdom, and the Church of England was no exception.
My last sermon was preached on the 15th of March.
On Monday the 16th of March the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, informed the Nation “now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact and travel”.
The following day, the 17th of March, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York sent a letter to all the Clergy of the Church of England: we are now asking the Church of England in all its parishes, chaplaincies and ministries to serve all people in a new way. Public worship will have to stop for a season. Our usual pattern of Sunday services and other mid-week gatherings must be put on hold.
