- Keep a calendar with space to write appointments and such in
- Grab a journal for your lists and to do's and reminders for the week/ month/ year
- Keep the children's schedules from school handy here too, with all permission slips, reminders and schedules
- For holidays, prepare yourself for what you can handle emotionally and physically
- If you drive alone or with someone, park where it is easy. access to leave when you are ready (without having to ask others to move their car, causing more emotions and people wanting you to stay longer.
- Have a gracious response to those who might want to talk too much, or say the "wrong thing".
- Teach others with kindness what grief is and how cliche statements can hurt and wound. If they don't want to accept advice, don't argue, just walk away -- and LET IT GO. Don't harbor their comments. They don't understand, and it's not helpful to hold onto the words said if it hurts. Hold loosely so you can stay in. a sound mind.
