Season 2

God's Justice EP56

In this episode Larry and James talk about God's justice in contrast to man's justice... From the transcript... "Well, I think about those dogs trailing, treading, hunting, all that stuff. And then I think about our conversations. They just all over the place like those dogs looking for a trail. We just finding our way. Trying to sniff something up or jump something up. Yeah. Sniff it out, jump it up. Yeah. A rabbit hunt. Trying to run it out of these bushes here. Get after it. Yeah. That's what my conversations are. Well, that's the honest way they are among friends. Yeah. At least in our friendship. Another story came to mind. This is maybe our dog episode. This is James Goes Down Memory Lane. When I was in high school, probably ninth, tenth grade maybe. I might have been younger than that.."

God's Judgment EP55

In this episode Larry and James take a look at God's estimate of things. From the transcript... I had a good squirrel dog too. I don't want to tell that story though. I guess I could tell one. Well you'll have to splice these out over several episodes. On the property that I grew up on, my dad, we had like 40 acres. One side of it we had a fence and there was woods on the other side of that fence. There's woods on both sides but I would go to that fence squirrel hunting with my dog. He was Tennessee Mountain Cur. Yellow, bobtail, born that way. Man he was just, he started treeing squirrels by himself at five months old. Wow, that's early. And I would go, and I didn't teach him this, he's just a smart dog. Instinct. I'd go stand at the fence. He'd go on through the fence, go make a circle and if he didn't find a squirrel he'd come back to me and we'd go hunt with another patch.

Life As Sons EP54

In this episode Larry and James discuss what they are learning about living fully into the reality of being sons of God! From the transcript... You'd think after 52 episodes you'd learn to keep water in your truck? I ain't very good at that one. I could do something in this partnership, James. You could give me water duties. I might have some water out here in one of these mud holes. It might be why I don't bring nothing. The way you talked about my coffee. What's better than that I can get out of that mud hole water! Subconsciously I might be rebelling not serving you. If I had some land I could hunt. That would be a good thing to do to take your grandkids to hunt. Maybe some of your kids. That's one of the changes in my lifetime. I am old enough that I remember before leased land hunting. You just got ownership of the land. They'd give you permission. Most people back when I was a kid didn't care. You could just pull over here and hunt that bottom if you wanted to. Go up through there. I'm sure there's leases they don't care as long as it ain't deer and deer season. Some of them get real funny about that on the coon hunting side. The other side of that is there's been so much cutting of timbers. Hard to find a bottom that's very long and big. You need some distance there if you want to actually have a hunt.

Trailing With The Hound Of Heaven EP53

In this episode Larry and James discuss more of their journey learning to follow the leading of Holy Spirit! From the transcript... We got lots of good memories in those woods. I say lots, there's some. The times that I went in those woods are good. I got several times, me and my boy, Zach, when he was probably six, we'd be in there. Remember one time we treated some coons pretty quick. Right there close to the highway, I shined up and there was like four sets of eyes. Oh wow. It was a mama and her little ones. I mean we left them there. Me and Barry Carter, David Goodnight, we'd go in there coon hunting sometimes, build a fire, sit around, drink coffee, preach to one another, listen to the dogs. Good times. Oh yeah. I still like to hear a dog trail and tree. I saw on Facebook here a while back, old Micah Carter, he's got a couple of coon hounds. Yeah, he posts some stuff on one. Yeah, I think about those dogs, trailing through the woods and watching them as they're trying to sniff out whatever it is. You squirrel hunting, coon hunting, and how they're zigzagging and going back and forth.
Season 1

Cleaning Our Boots! EP52

In this episode Larry and James discuss some of their former theologies and the process of shaking them off. From the transcript... When we get out here in the country, which is where we live anyway, but when you're more country, in the woods, you get talking about hunting and stuff. I get to looking in the woods and thinking about hunting. I get lost in that. Yeah. That's good. No, I could sit and you just drive and I can look out this window for a long time, James, and enjoy it. Yeah. That's probably from riding with my dad. He was always, you look out that window and you tell me if you see a deer. Yeah, I was doing some of that road. Yes, we did a lot of road hunting, but just the, I don't know, it became what you did, because that's what he was doing on his side of the road.

Kindness Has Included You EP51

In this episode Larry and James discuss the kindness of God and how that can work out into our experiences. From the transcript... Let's see. Mephibosheth, his response is normally ours. I'm just a dog. Well that goes back to, I'm just a sinner saved by grace. Yeah, we sing about it all the time. Oh yeah. Saved such a wretch as me. Yeah, sorry, no good sucker. But that's it. Our mind is overrun with such negative thoughts about our own identity and worth and who we are. And all the while, there's the word of the king. Yeah, yeah. And the king says you're going to eat it my table. Where's that one? Where's that one? Yeah. That I can show kindness to. This is feeling good, this word. David said don't fear. Mephibosheth was scared. He done got hunted down and pulled out of hiding. He was afraid that David was going to kill him. Well, because that was the rule of the day of when a new king took over, who was from a different family lineage. He eliminated. They had to eliminate all the heir apparent of the old king so that they don't claim a right to the throne. But David didn't do what everybody else did. So he brought him and put him at his own table.

Moving Forward EP50

In this episode Larry and James discuss some of their journey about how God is continuing to move them forward. From the transcript... So I don't know that you're really intending to, but you're stirring a lot of stuff in me when you're talking about this angry God and I don't know if I can remember what you were stirring in me now. We had to stop. All right. It's the goodness and kindness of God that leads us to repentance, to changing our ways, changing how we think, changing what we believe, changing how we act, interact with each other. That's what drew on me and really ministered to me because not much, but there have been moments in my journey where I'm like, man, I just don't know about this. Looking back! But what you're saying is just validating what I've learned and am learning. As you know, I've shared with you before that word God gave me. Go forward. Don't look back. I have so much in store for you. It's just the process of repenting. Right.

Paradigm Shifts To Goodness EP49

In this episode Larry and James share some of their experiences coming to know God in a better light. From the transcript... It's the goodness and kindness of God that leads us to repentance, to changing our ways, changing how we think, changing what we believe, changing how we act, interact with each other. That's what drew on me and really ministered to me because I've not much, but there have been moments in my journey where I'm like, man, I just don't know about this. Looking back. But what you're saying is just validating what I've learned and am learning. As you know, I've shared with you before that word God gave me. "Go forward! Don't look back! I have so much in store for you!" It's just the process of repenting. Because in my repentance, I won't say getting closer to, because I can't get any closer to him, but the revelation of him is coming and he's revealing and it's changing my perspective of who he is. Because during that time that he gave me that word, I felt like I was getting away from God. How are you going to get away from God? Right. Because everywhere you go, there he is.

Parenting With Papa In Kindness EP48

In this episode Larry and James discuss the need for parenting with our Father. From the transcript ... Naw, I wouldn't say that. You wouldn't be described as James is patient and kind as a father. Not when I was raising little kids. When they were little. How about with your grandchildren? Because the truth is, their momma raised them. Well, there's a whole lot of truth to that. Which is the average home. With my grandkids, I'm learning. Because, and I don't know why, but a lot of my, dare I say, frustration comes from constant noise. I don't know why. I don't know why. So I'm learning. Right here is the answer. And this is what I'm learning. Alright, what are you learning? Ephesians 3. Can't read the verse. I think it's 17. I don't know. It's too little. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you. And the resting place of His love will become the very source and root of your life.

Love Is Kind EP 47

In this episode Larry and James look at the first characteristic of love that is listed in the love chapter, 13 of Corinthians. From the transcript... I want to say thank you to Robert Miller. Robert Miller's photography here in Marshall, Texas helped us get off the ground and running. He was very instrumental in the first four episodes. Basically he just put them together. He gave me some advice on shooting, but I just wanted to thank him and only mention the fact that we're finding our way to learning to do these recordings. Technology is not my forte. So if you're this far along in the show, thank you for hanging in there with us because I've had audio issues from day one. This setting is just another attempt to try to better the quality of what we're doing. Not that we're going to get out of the truck, but have a wonderful professional sitting in with us today with their equipment. Trying to help us with it. I'm thankful for that.
