Fiction Addiction - Books & Beyond
Season 1
by Charlotte Valentine
I talk with J V Phaure, author of 4 compelling & evocative novels about her inspiration to write - and the issues the characters in her books confront. We met the day after the launch of new novel 'KATUMBA' - a story of two countries where lives collide and unimaginable choices have to be made. A story where hope can blossom when all else has been lost. Jane's books are available at Waterstones, Amazon and through her website www.jvphaure.com.
In this episode I talk to Amanda Hopewell - singer/songwriter, playwright, poet & novelist - about the various formats she uses to tell stories. In particular we discuss the challenges of conveying a story and a message in a 3 minute song. Amanda also sings live on the show.
A discussion of Prince Harry's memoir - SPARE - the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time, and the controversy surrounding it. And a look at how writers can use the power of their words, their stories, and their characters to shine a light on key social issues - and how the greatest writers use the voice their books give them to effect change.
