FaithwithGingersnap-Unashamed-From the Devils Detention to God’s Redemption-part 1

Some stories take courage to tell. Others take courage just to remember. ❤️ Andre, thank you for sitting down with me and sharing your heart so openly. Thank you for your honesty, your vulnerability, your humor, and your willingness to let others see the man behind the past. Your story is so much bigger than the things you've been through. You're an artist, a husband, a man who loves helping others, and someone whose faith in Jesus has become an important part of his life. I'm proud of the man you are today, but I'm especially grateful that I get to walk beside you as you continue becoming the man Jesus has called you to be. Your past is part of your story, but redemption is part of your testimony. I love you, Andre. Thank you for trusting me and our Gingersnappers with your story. ❤️ FROM THE DEVIL'S DETENTION TO GOD'S REDEMPTION

Episode 3: The Girls We Were, The Women We Became What happens when two girls grow up carrying pain they never should have had to carry—and years later sit down together to talk about who they became? In this episode of Unashamed, Holly and I open up about childhood, trauma, abuse, shame, faith, and the experiences that shaped us. We talk about the things we survived, the things we still carry, and how our lives took different paths while our friendship somehow found its way back. Our stories aren’t identical. Our beliefs aren’t identical. Our healing doesn’t look the same. But there is something powerful about sitting across from someone who knew the girl you used to be and letting her meet the woman you fought to become. This conversation is honest, emotional, sometimes painful, and filled with love, laughter, friendship, and hope. Because our past may explain parts of us—but it does not get to decide who we become. The girls we were survived. The women we became are still healing. And our story isn’t over. Real faith. Real life. A little chaos. And a lot of Jesus.

FaithwithGingersnap-What’s In My Head-part 2

Some conversations are easy. This wasn’t one of them. ❤️‍🩹 We talked about the parts of mental illness that are often hidden behind closed doors —the fear, the confusion, the exhaustion, and the battles inside a mind that no one else can see. And Deb stepped into that conversation with knowledge, compassion, and absolutely no judgment. That matters. Because shame grows in silence. But when someone is willing to sit beside you in the hard stuff and say, “I want to understand,” something begins to change. I believe God works in those spaces too. Not only in the miraculous moments, but in the conversations that make someone feel seen. In the people He places in our path. In the reminder that even when our minds feel like a battlefield, we have never left His hands. Deb, thank you for helping us bring light into places that are too often kept dark. Thank you for helping remind people that mental illness does not make them less worthy of love, dignity, compassion—or grace. And to everyone who listened to Episodes 2–2.5: May you leave with more understanding. More compassion. Less judgment. And a whole lot more grace. God is still here. There is still hope. Keep going. ❤️

FaithwithGingersnap-My Story-Episode 1

⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This episode contains honest conversations about childhood trauma, abuse, mental health struggles, shame, and other painful life experiences. Some of these topics may be difficult or triggering. Please listen with care and take a break if you need one. If you are struggling, please don’t carry it alone. If you are in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. This is my story—the story of a woman who survived abuse, trauma, mental health struggles, and years of carrying shame that was never hers to carry. After spending most of my life trying to hide the painful parts of my story, I’m finally ready to tell them. In this first episode, I’m opening up about the experiences that shaped me, the things I’ve struggled with, and the parts of my life that are difficult to talk about. This isn’t a polished version of my story. It’s the real one. For years, I carried shame for things that were never my fault. I carried it into my relationships, my mental health, and the way I saw myself. But I’m learning that we don’t have to carry shame forever. My faith has been a huge part of my journey, and throughout this podcast we’ll talk about what God says about shame, how He can help us let go of the things we’ve been carrying, and how we can begin healing from the trauma we’ve experienced. We’ll also talk about Unashamed by Christine Caine, and the powerful message of breaking free from shame. I’m not here because I have all the answers. I’m here because I’m still figuring it out, too. If you’ve ever carried shame for something that wasn’t your fault, struggled with the weight of your past, or wondered if you can really heal from the things you’ve survived, come sit with me. Let’s talk about the hard things. Let’s talk about healing. And let’s learn how to put down the shame we’ve carried for too long. This is FaithwithGingersnap. And this is where my story begins. ❤️🎙️

FaithwithGingersnap -What’s Inside My Head-Part 1

⚠️ CONTENT WARNING / LISTENER DISCRETION This episode contains candid and potentially triggering conversations about mental illness, trauma, abuse, suicidal thoughts and experiences, psychiatric hospitalization, psychosis, paranoia, and other sensitive topics. Please listen with care. If any part of this conversation becomes too heavy, it’s okay to pause, take a break, or skip this episode. If you need help please reach out to a health care professional, your doctor, you can call/text 988, or go to your local emergency room What if you could step inside my head for an hour? Would the things I do make a little more sense? In Part One of “What’s Inside My Head?”, I’m opening a door I normally keep pretty tightly closed. My special guest, Deb Scarborough, joins me for a raw and honest conversation about mental illness—what it can look like from the outside, what it feels like from the inside, and the things people don’t always understand. We talk about Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), OCD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder with psychotic episodes, paranoia, and some of the realities that come with living inside a mind that doesn’t always feel like a safe or predictable place. This isn’t a clinical lecture. It’s my life. We talk about the confusing parts. The painful parts. The parts I can laugh about now. And the parts that are still incredibly difficult to say out loud. But this conversation isn’t only about mental illness. It’s about shame. For years, there were pieces of myself I thought I needed to hide—the diagnoses, the trauma, the thoughts, the experiences that might make someone look at me differently. Not anymore. I love Jesus. I have faith. And I also live with mental illness. Those things can exist in the same sentence. Faith doesn’t mean pretending everything is okay. Sometimes faith looks like worship and answered prayers. Sometimes it looks like simply getting through another day. And sometimes faith is lying on the floor whispering, “Jesus, I need You.” He meets us there, too. My hope is that this conversation helps someone feel a little less alone. Maybe you live with mental illness yourself. Maybe you love someone who does and you’ve struggled to understand what they’re experiencing. Or maybe you’ve spent years hiding pieces of your own story because you were afraid of what people would think. Pull up a chair. We’re talking about the things people usually whisper about—and we’re doing it unashamed. Your struggles don’t make you less worthy of love. Your diagnosis isn’t your identity. And your story doesn’t have to stay hidden. Welcome to Unashamed. This is where the journey begins—where we release the shame, break free from the chains, and learn what it means to live unashamed and unchained. 🎙️ FaithwithGingersnap Podcast 🤎 Understand • Compassion • Less Judgment • More Grace
