Riquet of the Tuft

This week’s episode will explore a lesser known French fairytale, Riquet of the Tuft, that explores the value of physical beauty versus the value of intelligence. Can the world’s ugliest man find love with the most beautiful princess who ever lived? Is beauty enough to guarantee happiness? We’ll find out.

Bluebeard

This week we take a walk on the dark, very dark, side of fairytales with Bluebeard. A sexist and gory tale, based on some true life historic and even gorier crimes. Even so, the story holds some good lessons when you read between the lines.

Hansel & Gretel

It's not easy being a child in a Grimm Brother's fairytale. Hansel and his sister Gretel are starving and their own mother wants them dead and gone. They'll have to take a fateful journey into the forest and fight a fearsome witch to win their fortune and secure their home. We'll discuss some very interesting elements of the story at the end.
