Chapter 2 begins with another heavenly scene.

Satan again challenges Job’s faithfulness.

This time Job’s own body is afflicted.

Painful boils cover him from head to foot.

His wife tells him to curse God and die.

But Job refuses to speak against God.

Then three friends arrive.

At first, they do something very wise.

They sit with Job in silence for seven days.

Chapter 3 finally gives us Job’s first extended words after his suffering.

And they are painful words.

Job does not curse God.
