Many top name artists in the music industry often call on Stevie’s drumming, vocal and producing talents. Stevie has recorded and toured the world with luminaries such as David Gilmour, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Don Felder Kenny Loggins, Joe Walsh, Chris Robinson, Loggins & Messina, Paul Anka, The Apex, SolarFlare and many more. Stevie D has been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine on several occasions. June 2002 issue, features an interview with Rick Long relating his work with David Crosby & CPR and a most gratifying feature article in the August 2006 issue of Modern Drummer Magazine. Again in 2016, MD featured Stevie in an article called “Gearing Up” which talked about his equipment choices for specific gigs. Also, in 2016, “Drum Head Magazine” presented a full feature article highlighting Stevie’s musical journey and his career work with David Gilmour, Crosby/Nash, Loggins & Messina along with endorsement ads with Axis percussion, Aquarian drumheads and Paiste cymbals. Stevie has also been featured in Italian drum magazine “DrumClub” and also french drum publication Batterie. Stevie can been seen on David Gilmour’s live concert movies “Remember That Night, Live at the Royal Albert Hall” which also features David Bowie and Crosby/Nash , “Live in Gdansk” a live concert filmed with the Baltic Philahrmonic in front of an audience of over One Hundred Thousand people in the Gdansk shipyard and most recently the one-of-a-kind performance “Live In Pompei” recorded and filmed in the historic Pompei amphitheater ruin. These are continually aired all around the world. Stevie can also be seen on” Live at Abbey Road” and has performed on several occasions with David Gilmour on UK television show Later With Jools Holland. Other works include Loggins and Messina “Sittin’ In Again, Live at The Santa Barbara Bowl” DVD and Crosby/Nash Live 2011 DVD and An Evening With Crosby, Stills & Nash Live 2012 DVD Stevie has continued his work with these great artists throughout recent years and is looking forward to doing more. As writer, singer and producer - Stevie leads his own jazz quintet called “SolarFlare” With Shem von Schroeck called The Apex Writes, produces and sings in a project called 28000 days Stevie is also a member of The Angel Force Band which performs concerts to raise awareness of veteran suicide which has become a rampant epidemic in this country. The Angel Force Band is made up of members from Sugar Ray, The Who, Bob Dylan, Robby Krieger, CSN, Skunk Baxter from The Doobie Bothers, Jim Cregan (Rod Stewart) and more. Episode 168. An interview with Shawn Duncan from L.A. Guns
Shawn has been performing and recording since he was 15. 2024: LA GUNS will be continuing the Black Diamonds tour through 2024 with headlining shows as well as direct support for KK Downing's Priest first U.S. Tour and The Tom Keifer Band's Live/Loud 2024 tour. 2023: Shawn hit the road with L.A. GUNS for the "Black Diamonds" tour covering 19 states with 55 shows July thru September. Additional dates were added for December. Shawn performed in 2 videos,"Shattered Glass" and "Diamonds". with L.A. Guns for thier April 14th 2023 worlwide release "Black Diamonds" on Frontiers Records. L.A. Guns Performs on the 80"s Cruise March 2023. 2022: Shawn was asked to joinh platinum recording artists L.A.Guns. L.A. Guns toured the U.S. for 9 weeks with over 40 performances on the "Sonic Slam Tour" a package tour featuring Tom Keifer, L.A. Guns and Faster Pussycat. In October 2022, L.A.GUNS performed on the "Deck Stage" on The KISS KRUISE 2022! L.A GUNS wrapped up the year headlininig The Whisky A Gogo to a sold out crowd. The show was simulcast on SiriusXM/Hair Nation world wide. 2021-2020 Shawn recorded a full length album "Love 2B Hated" for the band "Sociial Disorder" On AFM Records. The band features Shawn Duncan, Tracii Guns, Jeff Duncan, Rudy Sarzo, Anders LaRonnblom and many "guest" performers. Love 2B hated was released worldwide in June, 2021 to much critical acclaim and has prodced 5 videos and singles! Shawn hit the recording studio in September 2022 for Social Disorder's second album due for a 2023 release. 2018: Shawn performed on 4 worldwide releases with Odin, DC4 and Killer Bee. These will be on EMP Lable Group-Universal-SPV records (Odin), HighVol-Sony/red (DC4)and Mighty Music-Target DE (Killer Bee). Video's and tours followed through 2019. Between 2013 and 2016 Shawn performed on 3 national Tours and countless fly outs with 80's Rock Band "Bulletboys". Shawn also appeared in the video for BulletBoys 2015 Cleopatra Records single "Rollover" from the Album "Elephante". Shawn also appears with BulletBoys on the Benefit album "Rockers Against MS" which was recorded at Dave Grohls 606 studios. Shawn spent his formative years with the infamous and highly influential band ODIN Recording 5 albums, countless touring, a video and appeared as a featured artist in the metal classic motion picture "The Decline of Civilization2, The Metal Years". Shawn has recorded and released 4 cd's with the band DC4 featuring his brothers Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint,Odin), Matt Duncan and Rowan Robertson (Dio). Thier newest album "Atomic Highway" on ToneHouse Records was released in 2021. With over 17 albums, countless tours, videos and even a major motion picture on his resume it is fair to say he has established himself as a true professional. Shawn credits John Bonham, Alex Van Halen, Cozy Powell , Steve Smith, Danny Saraphine and Roger Taylor as his largest influences however he insists that drums are a never ending journey and is always floored by something he hasn't heard before. Shawn is a solid, powerful, energetic, groove oriented drummer with incredible feel and a strong understanding of song structure. D.E.C. Episode 176: Interview with Drummer/Author/Producer Joe Franco!
Joe started his career in the clubs of NYC. He landed his first major gig in the early 70’s with the New York band, Good Rats. After recording six albums and touring constantly, Joe went on to play with artists such as Chilliwack, Fiona, Twisted Sister, and Widowmaker. Between band gigs, Joe recorded and toured with guitarists Vinnie Moore, Blues Saraceno, Leslie West and legendary Cream bassist, Jack Bruce. Besides his playing, Joe made a mark for himself in Music Education with the book and video, Double Bass Drumming. First published in 1984, the book is still used in many leading music institutes. Joe traveled the world performing drum seminars and wrote for the leading drum publications. In the ‘90’s, Joe settled into a NYC session groove during which time he recorded with Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Taylor Dayne, Diana Ross, Hall & Oates and many others. Besides his record projects, Joe started developing his compositional & production skills. Needing a home for his drumming and production work, Joe put together his facility, Beatstreet NYC in 1995 in New York City’s Flat-Iron district. At Beatstreet, Joe played on albums for the band, Magellan, Steve Walsh (Kansas) among others. He’s also produced and played drums on Eddie Ojeda’s (Twisted Sister) solo album and Dee Snider’s Van Helsing’s Curse. The latest chapter of Joe’s career started when he was asked to play drums for the hit PBS TV series Between the Lions. The show was recorded at Beatstreet and besides playing drums and mixing the show, Joe composed the show’s segue music. This series led to many other series and for the last 2 decades, Beatstreet has provided Music & Audio Post services for many other children’s series including Sesame Street, Blues Clues and The Electric Company, which earned Joe an Emmy in Sound Editing. Interview with Erik Eldenius
Born on the dusty plains of India. After a few confusing months, I was quickly packed and shipped to Sweden… A country, whose socio-liberal system works great if you get sick or prefer blondes. After ruining cutlery and pots imitating “Animal” from the Muppet Show, my lovely parents bought me some drums. I endured the cold harsh winters by practicing my newly acquired gifts in a basement with four windows. I enjoyed going to school because of my friends, but most teachers yelled at me. After picking up the piano and surviving high school I enrolled in music college, two years of intense indulgence in the middle of nowhere. As a child I often dreamed of living on top of the skyscrapers in New York City, something I would reconsider today. I settled for Los Angeles and bought my first car. Living here has allowed me to work with some amazing people (See Resume). I’m working as a session and touring drummer along with producing records for people. In addition to his work with Pacific Symphony, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Diego Symphony, the Long Beach Symphony, and in the orchestra of countless ballet companies and Broadway shows, including "Evita," "Fosse," and others. Previous to his position with Pacific Symphony, Slack held positions as timpanist with the Nassau Symphony on Long Island and Assistant Principal Timpanist/Percussionist with the Naples, Florida Philharmonic. Slack received a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the nation's premier music conservatory. While at Curtis, Slack studied with Gerald Carlyss, principal timpanist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Michael Bookspan, principal percussionist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Slack received an orchestral fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in 1989. He also performed and studied with Roland Kohlof, former Principal Timpanist of the New York Philharmonic, at the Waterloo Festival in New Jersey. During high school, Slack attended the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division, and studied extensively with New York Philharmonic Principal Percussionist Christopher Lamb at the SUNY, Purchase. Highly sought after as a teacher, Slack has had many of his students placed in major music conservatories and universities such as the Juilliard School, Indiana University, University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California School of Music, and others. Several of his students have earned positions in professional orchestras. He has held teaching positions at Fullerton College, California State University, Fullerton, and Chapman University. Currently, Slack maintains a private teaching studio in Orange County.
