Importance of documenting attacks of human rights defenders and the escalating patterns of violence against them

Human rights defenders are increasingly facing intimidation, threats, criminalization, and physical violence for standing up for justice, land, and environmental protection. In this episode, we explore why documenting attacks against human rights defenders is not just an act of record-keeping, but a vital tool for accountability, protection, and advocacy.

We examine the growing patterns of violence targeting defenders, the risks of silence, and how proper documentation helps expose abuses, support legal action, influence policy, and strengthen solidarity at local, national, and international levels. Voices from affected communities and experts highlight the urgent need to protect those who defend human rights and the environment.
